CHD holds “tuli mission” in Pasig
Posted: 20 May 2011
A Tuli (Eng: circumcision) Mission was held at Mangga 3, Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City on May 15, 2011.The event was organized by the Bayan Muna-Pinagbuhatan Chapter in cooperation with the Council for Health and Development (CHD). Fifty-one (51) children age 8-15 were served in the activity.
Brgy. Pinagbuhatan is an urban poor community that was heavily hit and damaged by typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) in 2009. Communities there are at risk of natural and human made disasters such as flooding and demolition. Because of their situation, the local organization requested CHD to hold trainings for capacity building among their members. Last year, CHD provided Basic Health Orientation (BHO) and Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings and workshops in the area.
The event started at 10:00 am and ended at 5:00 pm. The success of the event was attributed to the area preparation, prior identification and screening of patients, and careful planning and fine coordination of the officers of Bayan Muna Pinagbuhatan Chapter and the community volunteers.
Donations were made by concerned individuals, Rotary Club of Makati, local government officials and Homeowners Association presidents of Pasig City.
